Early Years: The First Voice and the First Frame

My earliest steps into media and public communication began in the early 1990s, in the years following the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.

As a teenager, I made modest journalistic contributions to local newspapers through correspondence with writers and participation in readers’ opinion sections. These early attempts reflected a growing interest in public affairs, national memory, and the role of words in shaping awareness. Writing was not yet a profession, but it had already become a way to observe, respond, and participate in the public conversation of a country rebuilding its voice after a defining historical moment.

During the same period, I also worked independently as a video photographer for social occasions. The work involved filming, editing, adding sound, and assembling short video clips using the simple tools available at the time. It was a practical education in storytelling, introducing me early to timing, image, rhythm, emotion, and audience attention.

Before radio, television, public communication, and international work, there were two beginnings: a written voice entering the public conversation, and a camera learning how to give moments structure, rhythm, and meaning.

The archive is missing, but the first voice and first frame remain.
